Kia e-Niro Review | A Comprehensive Car Review by Wagonex
If you are looking for an all-electric family SUV, the Kia e-Niro is a winner. It was probably the first car of its size that made a serious argument for ditching petrol, diesel, or hybrid power. It really is that good. It even won What Car? magazine’s Car Of The Year title.
What is the range of the Kia e-Niro?
Range has always been a limiting factor with electric cars, but Kia reckons the e-Niro will manage 282 miles on a single charge but from our tests we managed 230 miles, however, for many commuters, that will cover an entire week plus longer weekend journeys.
There’s Smart regenerative Braking which allows you to drive using the throttle for both acceleration and braking. When you lift off, the car will slow down AND charge the battery at the same time. You can even set different levels of ‘engine’ braking.
How fast does the Kia e-Niro charge?
As for charging the battery, if you have access to a rapid charger you should be able to achieve an 80% charge in about 45 minutes or a full charge in under an hour. If you have a wall charger at home or work, you’ll get a full charge in around 7 hours….just plug it in overnight.
What features are included with the Kia e-Niro?
- Leather upholstery
- Sat nav
- Smart 8-inch colour touchscreen
- DAB radio
- Smart cruise control
- Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
- 17” alloys
- Parking sensors and reversing camera
- 450L of boot space, which is the 70L more than the petrol version
What's the verdict on the Kia e-Niro?
It’s a surprisingly roomy car too which makes it ideal for family motoring and holidays. The seats are comfy, the ride is supple and, overall, the Kia e-Niro is really good to drive.
In other words, this could be the car that finally makes you switch to all-electric motoring. Good price, always gets the job done and it's oh so nice to the planet.
Here's some car reviews from models that can rival the e-Niro:
