Landrover Discovery Sport Review | A Comprehensive Review by Wagonex

If you fancy a chunky SUV, you can’t beat the Land Rover Discovery Sport. It’s one of the best all-rounders currently available. No surprise that it’s the biggest seller of the entire Land Rover range.

When it comes to clever interior packaging, the ‘Disco’ Sport is brilliant. It’s a seven seater and while, granted, the rear 3rd row pair of seats are best suited to children (who love being in there by the way) it does mean that you have flexibility. If you need to take a party of people to the theatre or football match, leave the seats in place. If you need a bigger boot and carrying space, drop one or both of the rearmost rows into the floor.

The model our partners offer is the Discovery Sport P250 R-Dynamic SE. Power comes from a 4-cylinder 2.0 litre petrol engine which develops 245bhp and gives you a 0-60mph time of 7.5 seconds. An automatic gearbox comes as standard.

And don’t assume that driving a vehicle as large as this is intimidating. You’ll quickly get used to it and, believe it or not, it doesn’t take up any more space on the road than an average size estate car. City streets won’t be a problem.

The increased ride height is a boon for seeing the road ahead. There’s also a clever trick with the interior rear view mirror. Flick a switch and it shows you the view from the car’s rear view camera. Neat huh?

Keen drivers will love the Disco Sport because, although it’s wonderful as a long distance, family holdall cruiser, it will hustle along country lanes without any complaints. The ride is surprisingly cushy too. Oh, and if you think all that talk of the Discovery Sport being a highly capable off-roader is just hype and marketing, think again. We’ve driven them through deep water, along heavily rutted roads, and across boggy fields. Okay, you’re highly unlikely to be doing any of that, but in slippery or seriously wet weather, it’s a reassurance to know you could.

If you’ve never driven a 4x4, this is a brilliant place to start. Rewarding to drive, fully kitted-out, and extremely versatile. It looks great too.
