Alfa Romeo Stelvio Review | A Comprehensive Car Review by Wagonex
We just can’t get enough of SUVs. Hardly a week goes by without a new one appearing. There is a huge range of models and you’ll find loads here on Wagonex. Some are aimed at families, others are aimed at the utility end of the market, and some are aimed fair and square at folk who like a bit of fun in their SUV.
And that is precisely where the Alfa Romeo Stelvio comes in.
Alfa Romeo took on the challenge of pushing an SUV to the edge of it's stylish potential. And do they succeed? Yes! I think it's almost impossible for Alfa Romeo not to be beautiful.
It’s different and it is hugely rewarding to drive. Be prepared to be stopped on a regular basis with folks asking…
”What is it?”
Obviously, being an Alfa, it has sporting flair as part of its DNA but it is also extremely comfortable, practical and well equipped.
In terms of power, the Stelvio comes with a 2.2 turbo diesel which produces 190hp. Everything goes via an 8-speed auto gearbox and you get all-wheel drive. Drive calmly (unlikely) and you should easily manage the official 47.1mpg figure. The engine gives you a lovely prr as you rev it.
The Sprint trim means you get sat nav, air con, leather upholstery, DAB radio, front and rear parking sensors, privacy glass etc. It’s fully loaded. There is also a serious luxury feel to the interior quality.
Out on the road, you won’t be surprised to read that the Stelvio is wonderful to drive….it’s what Alfas are all about. There’s a great blend of comfort and sporting agility which means you can have some fun when you’re on your own but also relax as you cruise along the motorway with the family on board heading for the beach.
Alfa Romeo were late arrivals at the SUV party but let me tell you, it was well worth it.
